The Digicel Fiji U20 Women’s team is gearing up for their debut at the FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup in Colombia.
The side is boosted with the inclusion of US-based defender, Talei Moddie,
Moddie, a US-based player with Fijian heritage, brings a wealth of experience to the team as a defender for the University of San Diego Athletics women’s soccer team and is sure to bolster the lineup.
At just 18 years old, Moddie has already made waves in football, showcasing her skills in a high-level environment. Her inclusion in the squad is seen as a significant boost by head coach Angeline Chua, who values Moddie’s consistent performance and experience on the field.
Moddie’s journey to the Fiji U20 Women’s team is remarkable, as she is the first overseas footballer with Fijian heritage to receive dual citizenship at such a young age. Her ability to seamlessly blend her heritage with her sporting prowess is a testament to her dedication and talent.
Joining Moddie in the squad is Priya Singh, another US-based player who previously featured for the Young Kulas at the OFC U19 Championship.
Most of the squad is composed of talented players from various regions, representing a variety of skills and experiences.
With a total of twenty-five members, the team is ready to march into camp today for a week of preparation.
