An exciting round of the Digicel U17 Youth League-Southern Zone was played last Saturday at the Fiji FA Academy in Vatuwaqa.
In round six of the competition, Tailevu Naitasiri won 3-1 against Northland Tailevu. Shiveent Sami scored the opener while Ushant Lal sealed the victory with his double. Juned Ali scored for Northland Tailevu.
The win puts Tailevu Naitasiri on third place with seven points while Northland Tailevu sits on the bottom of the table.
It was an entertaining clash between Navua and Suva in the second match in which Navua after 3-0 down came from behind to hold Suva to a 4-all draw.
Suva took an early lead in the 3rd minute of play with a goal from Andrew Chetty. Eneri Rotidara extended Suva’s lead in the 13th minute while two minutes later Nishal Sharma made it 3-0. In the 37th minute, Komatsu Papua further extended Suva’s lead.
Just before the halftime break Irshad Mohammed scored for the Navua side going in the break with Suva in 4-1 advantage.
The Netani Doli-coached Navua babies showed their fighting spirit in the second and fought till the end to register one point.
Mohammed got his second goal in the 63rd minute while Donald Prasad’s brace in the 80th and 89th minutes leveled the score line.
Suva is second on the point’s table ladder with nine points while Navua moves to the fourth spot with six points.
In the last match of the day, Nasinu managed to hold point table leaders Rewa to a nil-all draw.
The Baby Tigers are on top of the table with 10 points while Nasinu on fifth place with 5 points.
