Nasinu, Rewa and Northland Tailevu opened their 2021 season with wins in the Digicel U16 Youth League-southern zone at FFA Academy Ground in Vatuwaqa last Saturday.
In the opening match Nasinu came from behind to beat Suva 2-1 in an exciting counter as both teams came prepared for the game.
Nikhil Chand scored the opener for Suva in the 29th minute while two minutes later Aryan Chetty found the equaliser for Nasinu.
Both teams went to breather with a goal each.
The second half saw Nasinu coming out strong with numerous attack and a blunder by Suva defence gave Sameer Lal an opportunity to utilise and give the win in the 60th minute.
The second match saw Rewa thrashed Navua 7-0.
Delon Shankar scored the opener in the 16th minute while Neeraj Sharma and Nehal Nair scored hat tricks for the Baby Tigers.
In the third match defending champions Northland Tailevu came out strongly to beat Tailevu Naitasiri 2-0.
Raynal Lal scored the opener in the 44th minute while Ivan Singh sealed the 2-0 victory in the 90th minute.
In the western zone Lautoka defeated Nadi 1-0 while Ba won 3-2 against Rakiraki.
