The Labasa Football head coach Ronil Lal believes they have challenging days ahead following the aftermath of Tropical Cyclone Ana and the upcoming Pillay Garments Champion versus Champion series (CvC).
Lal says a lot of their own players and officials have been severely affected by the recent flooding and it now becomes a challenge to get back to normal as some of them were still in the recovery phase following TC Yasa.
The Courts Inter District Championship winner is scheduled to battle the Vodafone Premier League champions Suva in the CvC series which has been delayed by two weeks and scheduled to take place on 19 and 21 February at ANZ Stadium.
“Well I believe we will face a lot of challenges such as training ground availability, players affected how they will cope with training and home cleaning and getting back to normalcy,” Lal said.
“Quite a number of our players are affected.
“Yes I have been also badly affected. A lot of damage to household items which are beyond repair. Well football is part of my life and I will manage it. Life has to go on.”
Lal said it is heartbreaking to see people in the Northern division struggling to recover after being hit by TC Yasa and then severe flooding caused by TC Ana.
“It’s really bad, people are struggling especially when there is no water supply and electricity, people are finding hard to clean their homes.
“I believe football is a sport that brings everyone together. So let’s come out and assist people who are affected regardless if they are part of football or not.”
