Top 8 fate

Group A: Labasa, Ba, Suva, Nasinu

Group B: Lautoka, Rewa, Nadi, Navua

The eight participating districts have welcomed its first fate as they head towards the Punjas Battle of the Giants (BOG) 2020 at Churchill Park, Lautoka from next week.

This is after the pools were officially drawn at the Oceans Soaps Pte in Navutu, Lautoka last week with the teams coming to know their opponents with just over one week away from the kick-off.

Defending champion Labasa would face a mammoth task as far as its title defense is concerned.

The Babasiga Lions have been drawn in Group A along with the most successful team of the BOG tournament, Ba, the only unbeaten team currently in the Vodafone Premier League, Suva, together with the giant-killers Nasinu.

Host Lautoka leads Group B with the current league leaders Rewa, neighbours Nadi and the season newcomers Navua.

Fiji FA president Rajesh Patel is urging all the participating teams to prepare well.

“To the district officials, plan and prepare well.

“We have all witnessed some surprising results in our national league recently so I would like to reiterate that no team could be taken lightly in the tournament.

“May the best team prevail victors and football to be the ultimate winner at the end,” Patel said during the official pool draws.

The pool matches of the Punjas BOG 2020 will be played from 07-09 August while the semifinals and final will be played a week later from 15-16 August, 2020.
