Title race on for under-16 teams

The Rewa U16 side came from behind to beat Navua 2-1 in round three of the Digicel U16 Youth League fixture at the Fiji FA Academy Ground last Saturday.

In the first minute of play, Navua received a free-kick just outside the penalty box which saw Harish Thakur’s powerful drive past Rewa goalkeeper Francis Aisea and took an early lead.

Both teams displayed constructive football with equal opportunities in attack as Navua were enjoying the lead

In the 40th minute, 14-year-old Rewa midfielder Avishaan Chand got the equalizer with a beautiful left-footer from the left flank and brought the “Baby Tigers “alive.

Rewa defender Delon Shankar found the winner in the 75th minute with a 40-yarder shot which caught Navua’s defense stunned.

The win puts Rewa on top of the points table with six points.

In other match Suva and Northland Tailevu played to a 1all draw.

Suva remains the unbeaten team in the competition and sits in the second spot with five points.

Tailevu Naitasiri is third with four points while Nasinu is fourth with three points.

Navua sits in fifth place with two points and Northland Tailevu is at the bottom of the table with one point.
