What a 2020 Courts IDC tournament we had last weekend which was a major success and I am sure everyone enjoyed the entertainment and thrilling matches that was on played.
Congratulations to SSS Building (NZ) Labasa team for creating their own history by making it a back-to-back first ever Courts IDC wins and Nadroga for winning the senior division final. Also congratulation to Fresh Choice Lautoka and Bua teams for giving their best in their respective finals.
I would like to acknowledge the support from our major sponsors Courts who have been sponsoring this prestigious tournament since 2000 and have made the tournament virtually their own with a very close working relationship without them we would have made the tournament a success.
I have continued to stress that without sponsors it would be very hard for Fiji FA to survive on our own. A sponsor like Courts has proved that they are indeed a wonderful corporate citizen of the country and have taken very sincere interest to assist in the development of football in our beloved country.
And to the fans thank you very much coming out in numbers and making the tournament lively for your district. The musical instruments and district colors really changed the atmosphere at the ANZ Stadium.
I would like to heartily thank Prime Minister and Minister for i-Taukei Affairs, Sugar Industry, Foreign Affairs Honorable Josaia Voreqe Bainimarama for taking his time out and officially open the tournament on Tuesday and always supporting Fiji Football.
I would also like to thank each and every one for their support in making the 2020 Courts IDC a major success and memorable one. The Chief Executive Officer, Vision Investments Ltd, Mr. P.L Munasinghe, Chief Executive Officer, Fiji Sports Council, Ms. Litiana Loabuka, Fiji Sports Council and Uprising Sports Centre staffs, Commissioner of Police and Divisional Police Commandant, Southern Division – for provision of Police officers for maintenance of Law and order –ensuring an incident free tournament, Referees, Match Assessors, Ball Kids,News Media— FBC Radio and FBC TV, Fiji live, Fiji Sun, Fiji Times, Radio Sargam, Radio Navtarang, and other media outlets for promotion, reporting and talk back shows to hype up the tournament. JR White for supply of Mikasa match balls for the tournament, the advertisers in the Courts IDC 2020 Souvenir Program. Coca Cola (Amatil) for providing refreshment/drinks for Referees, Fiji FA Officials, Ball Boys and to teams for all the matches of Courts IDC 2020. Also thanking the Grounds Committee Chairman Mr. Ravin Swamy and the team for all the arrangements. The St John Ambulance Brigade for taking care of injured players, Fiji FA HQ staff for tournament preparation and Fiji FA Social Responsibility team for COVID 19 protocol. Smart and Efficient Security Services for providing security services and to all the participating teams for their wonderful performance.
Now the Courts IDC is done and dusted and I am sure the focus for all teams will be on Vodafone Premier League which is also interesting as it gets near to its completion and Vodafone Fiji FACT which will be held in Labasa next month.
