Tavua back in senior division

Despite a match in hand this weekend, the Tavua Football team will be replaced by Nasinu FC in the top division in the new Fiji Football Association season.

Nasinu defeated Savusavu 2-0 in the final leg of the Digicel Senior League Play Off last weekend at HFC Bank Stadium in Suva to secure a spot in the premier division after a draw in the first leg.

This after Tavua was held 2-2 against Nadi FC in a crucial match last night at Prince Charles Park in Nadi.

The Gold Town Boys are the only team in the Digicel Fiji Premier League without a win this season.

Tavua played 17 matches in which they drew seven and lost 10 matches.

The Shalen Lal-coached side will face Rewa FC in its final DPL match on Sunday at 3pm at Ratu Cakobau Park in Nausori.

Meanwhile, Lautoka FC just needs a point to win this year’s Digicel Fiji Premier League title or hopes Ba beats Rewa this Friday.

In another match last night, a lone goal from the penalty spot by Ratu Anare gave Ba a crucial three points against Nadroga.

The Ba vs. Rewa match will be played tomorrow (Friday 22) at 7pm at Churchill Park in Lautoka.

The DPL will conclude on Sunday with three exciting matches.

Lautoka FC will face Navua FC at Churchill Park in Lautoka, Suva FC will host Ba FC at Uprising Sports Centre in Pacific Harbour while Rewa will say farewell to Tavua at Ratu Cakobau Park in Nausori.

All the matches will be played at 3pm.
