Tamanisau wins golden glove

Veteran goalkeeper Simione Tamanisau scooped the 2022 Punjas Battle of the Giants Golden Glove Award.

Tamanisau was instrumental in the Labasa’s win in the second major tournament in Fiji FA’s calendar.

The 41- year old policeman made some daring saves to help the Babasiqa Lions win the $17000 prizemoney.

Tamanisau said he was proud to captain the winning team.

“It is a privilege and honor to captain the team and win the title,”

“I started my football career in Rewa and playing against them was an honor,”

“I have won many titles with them and I knew how strong they will come in the final. I thank God for giving me the strength to be on my best,” said Tamanisau

“I praise the hard work of the players and team management because without their support we would have not created the history,”

“Whether it is Labasa or Rewa, I thank the Almighty for the talent, and for the fans for supporting me in whichever game or team I play,” Tamanisau said

The former national goalkeeper is expected to retire from football after his tenure with Labasa
