More than a hundred under-15 boys attended the Talent Identification event for the Digicel national under-15 team at three venues last Saturday.
In the southern division, 30 players attended while the northern division recorded around 40 players and the western division had around 35 players.
Fiji FA Head of National Talent Identification Sunil Kumar said the main objective in this short span of time was to select the best players for the national under-15 team.
“It was great to see the huge interest shown by the kids during the trials at the three centers’” said Kumar
“I have received reports from the southern and western division scouts and they were pleased with the potential players they have.
“I was in the North for the trials and have seen myself some good talents in the north,”
Kumar said that talents are there.
“We have talents in Fiji but we need to nurture them and I think the FFA talent development programme and the McDonalds league in U9/U11/U13/U15 will play a big role in molding these talents,” Kumar said
“FIFA Talent Coach Mr. Dan Cooke is also guiding us in this scouting process where the selected players from each center will be called in for the final trials soon where the best eighteen players will be selected to represent the country in the OFC U15 Development Tournament in April in New Zealand,”
