The Extra Futsal IDC 2025 got underway in thrilling fashion at the Vodafone Arena in Suva yesterday, with defending champions and newcomers alike showcasing their talent in front of an enthusiastic crowd.
Tailevu Naitasiri Futsal made a commanding start to their campaign, producing a stunning 10–2 victory over Rakiraki Futsal in the tournament opener. Abhishek Deo was in brilliant form, earning the Extra Player of the Match award for his outstanding performance that inspired the side to a dominant win.
In the second match of the day, Suva Futsal proved too strong for Nasinu Futsal, recording a convincing 6–1 triumph. Suva captain Ramzan Khan led by example, guiding his team’s attack and being named Extra Player of the Match.
Lautoka Futsal also began their campaign on a positive note, edging Lami Futsal 2–1 in a tight encounter. Lautoka’s Wilson Doedoke played a pivotal role in midfield and was deservedly recognized as the Extra Player of the Match.
The final match of the opening day saw Labasa Futsal and Ba Futsal battle to a 2–2 draw in a thrilling contest. Both teams created several chances, but neither could find a late winner. Ashneel Raju of Labasa impressed with his creativity and composure, earning the Extra Player of the Match honour.
The opening day featured a total of 23 goals across four matches, setting an exciting tone for the remainder of the tournament. Fans can expect more high-paced futsal action as the competition continues today at the Vodafone Arena.
