Tailevu Naitasiri has taken the lead in the Vodafone Senior League Viti Levu zone after a convincing win against Tavua on Sunday at Ratu Cakobau Park in Nausori.
Tavua looked favorites in the match with experience players like striker Ratu Dau, Josevata Neibuli, Mosim Khan, Atunaisa Livanalgi and Kartik Kumar to name a few but the Nigel Khan coached Tailevu Naitasiri side displayed constructive football to outclass the Goldminers with a 2-0 win.
Both teams started the match on high note but failed to utilize the opportunities as the match ended in a nil-all draw at halftime.
The Tailevu Naitasiri side regrouped in the second half with more urgency in the match which saw in the 56th minute play striker Patrick Ralulu putting the host on 1-0 led.
Prashant Chand doubled Tailevu Naitasiri advantage in the 77th minute with a powerful drive past Tavua goalkeeper Varina Telawa.
Tailevu Naitasiri sit with 4 points after two matches, Nadroga and Tavua have 3 points, Northland Tailevu has 1 point while Rakiraki is yet to register a point.
In the first round of the competition Northland Tailevu and Tailevu Naitasiri played to a nil-all draw while Tavua defeated Rakiraki 3-2.
In the other match on Sunday Nadroga defeated young Northland Tailevu 2-0.
Nadroga with some new signings, entered the match with the favourites tag but a young and determined Northland out displayed good football and held their much experienced opponents goal-less at halftime.
The young northlander gave out everything in the match but lack of fitness in the last quarter of the match saw Emosi Navaba getting the goal in the 83rd minute while replacement striker Jonas Naceva sealed the victory for the Stallions after five minutes.
In the matches this weekend Nadroga will face Tavua at Garvey Park while Tailevu Naitasiri will play Rakiraki at Fiji FA Academy Ground in Suva, Northland Tailevu is on bye.
