Suva to battle Navua

2020 Vodafone Premier League champions Suva will face minnows Navua in its opening pool match of the 2020 Vodafone Fiji FACT at ANZ Stadium in Suva this Sunday.

It will be after five years Navua will feature in the Vodafone Fiji FACT after been promoted to premier division this year.

Navua is an unpredictable side and they will be out to prove their worth and for sure they will give the champion Suva side a good run for their money.

Coach Mohammed Shafil says it’s only a matter of getting the team to continue the momentum they’ve built from the beginning of the season as they embark on the last tournament of 2020.

“I told the players, we need to concentrate doesn’t matter if we have secured our place in the premier division next season. We still have this last tournament so, we need to do our best as the fans have a lot of expectations from us, and we’ll have to work harder.”

Shafil said the win against Nasinu in the last VPL match was a boost for the team.

“Our 7-1 win against Nasinu has boost the morale of the players and I am sure they will work hard to end the season with heads high,”

“We are in a different pool compared to Courts IDC and we will take each game as it comes, “said Shafil

The Navua school teacher said he had full faith in his players and were ready to take on Suva in the opener.

“We know Suva is an experience team but I have faith in my young boys,”

“We are taking the 2020 Vodafone Fiji FACT tournament as our buildup for 2021 season, “said Shafil

Suva president Ritesh Pratap says they cannot underestimate Navua

“Navua is a very good side and they have given us nail biting results in the Vodafone Premier League this season and they will be out to spoil our party but we are confident to start the tournament with a win,”

“We have played them twice in the VPL and they drew 1-1 with us in the first round but we won 4-1 in the second round so the fans can expect a good entertaining match come Sunday,” said Pratap

“I am sure they will come out firing against us to prove they are a team to be reckoned and that what makes our boys to work much harder,”

The Smart & Efficient Security Services boss has urged all Suva fans to come out in numbers and support the team.

The match kicks off at 1pm followed by Rewa vs Labasa match at 3pm.
