Suva set for Pacific Cup

The Suva football side left our shores today to participate in the 2019 Pacific Cup tournament in Auckland New Zealand.

Association president Ritesh Pratap said they would go as underdogs in the tournament.

“We could not train together as a team because five of our players were stranded in New Caledonia with the futsal team and some of our players were with the Fiji police team for the Sukuna Bowl Challenge, “said Pratap

Pratap said he was confident of a good outing at the tournament.

“I am confident we will do our best as these players have played together and that will not be a problem,”

“This year has not been a lucky year for us in domestic competition as we reached semi-finals of the Vodafone Fiji FACT and played finals in the INKK Mobile BOG and Courts IDC. We also finished third in the Vodafone Premier League and our aim is to finish the year on a high note,” said Pratap.

The Smart & Efficient Security Services boss confirmed that they had roped in two guest players,

“Yes we have included Vanuatu international Brian Kalatak and Solomon International Andrew Abba in the squad, “

“They will sure add more depth in the team with the players we have, “said Pratap

The Kamal Swamy coached side starts its campaign against Lautoka tomorrow at 9.30pm. The second match is against USA All Stars on Thursday at 5.45pm. On the third day Suva will face AUSFFA All Stars at 5.45 and their final pool match will be against Auckland All Stars on Saturday November 30th at 6.45pm.
