Suva ready to defend futsal IDC title

The dealpacific sponsored Suva futsal side will miss the service of one of its star player during the 2021 Digicel Futsal League.

2019 Golden Ball award winner and 2020 Golden Boot award winner Akitesh Kumar is on a study visa in Australia.

Team manager Shelvin Kumar said it was a setback for the team.

“We will definitely miss the service of Kumar as he was very instrumental in our last three IDC title win, “said Kumar
Kumar said they have included some players to add depth to the squad.

“We will see the return of Reginald Singh from Navua and also Ni Vanuatu international Azaria Soromon and 2020 Golden Boot award winner Bruce Hughes will surely fill in the vacuum left by Kumar.”

Kumar added that they will be coming in as a team, and it won’t be an easy competition.

“We did face some challenges in our preparation past few weeks as some of the players and coach were sick but things are back to normal and we are ready to defend our title.”
“I’m hundred percent sure my boys will do their best. We have to keep our focus right and our aim is to successfully retain our title.”

“We will not underestimate any team as we know they will all come out firing against us,”

Kumar thanked Suva FC president Ritesh Pratap and his executive for their support.

“I would like to thank Suva FC executives for securing a sponsorship for the team for the tournament,”

“We are proud to be associated with dealspacific and I thank its directors Yamal and Shaman Kumar for their support in our campaign during this difficult time,” added Kumar

The dealspacific Suva side will open its title defense campaign against minnows Rakiraki this Thursday at 5pm at Vodafone Arena in Suva.

All the matches will be aired live on FBC Sports on the Walesi platform.
