Suva gears up to face Ba

The Suva football side anticipates a tough clash against Ba in round two of the Digicel Premier League this weekend.

Association president Ritesh Pratap said playing Ba was always tough.

” Ba will not be easy on us and we don’t expect an easy match from them. They will definitely want a win from us and we will also give them a hard time.”

Pratap confirmed that former national goalkeeper Tagi Vonolagi has been appointed technical director and is helping the side on their combination and set passes.

“Last week our combination was not to the level we wanted and that’s something Tagi is working with the team. He also pointed out that we lost a lot of good balls and that’s something which should not happen against Ba.”

“Fast ball play will be vital because we know Ba will be very fast so we have to be faster than them and more competitive.”

This week Suva will see the return of defender Filipe Baravilala and newly recruit goalkeeper Akuila Mataisuva from Labasa.

Pratap confirmed that the duo did not feature for the side in the opening match last week as Mateisuva suffered from an underarm boil while Baravilala was on a double yellow card.

But Pratap says Mateisuva will guard their goalmouth and Baravilala will provide his service this week against a gutsy Men-In-Black in Lautoka.

“Mataisuva informed us about his sore so we did not want to risk him and had to go without him against Lautoka.”

“Filipe was to miss a match following his double yellow card which he considered last year in the DPL.”

“Definitely they will be in this week and we know they with the other players will create a huge difference on the field.”

Suva will take on Ba in a triple header match at 4pm at Lautoka’s Prince Charles Park on Sunday.
