Stage set for BOG

The stage is all set for the 2020 Punjas Battle of the Giants Tournament which kicks off this Friday at Churchill Park in Lautoka.

All in One Builders (NZ) Nadi and Koromakawa Rentals and Tour Navua will open this year’s tournament at 12pm midday in their Group B fixture followed by Sharma’s Investment (USA) Labasa vs Flow Valves/Island Accommodation Suva match at 2pm. Priceline Pharmacy Ba will battle Go Fry Nasinu at 4pm while the official opening is schedule at 6pm by Attorney General Aiyaz Saiyad-khaiyum. The last match of day one will be between host Hyperchem Lautoka and Delta One Automotive Repairs Rewa at 6.30pm.

On day two on Saturday August 08 will see at 11am Flow Valves/Island Accommodation Suva take on Go Fry Nasinu followed by Hyperchem Lautoka vs Koromakawa Rentals and Tour Navua match at 1pm. Sharma’s Investment (USA) Labasa and Priceline Ba will battle at 3pm while Delta One Automotive Repairs Rewa and All in One Builders (NZ) Nadi sign off day two at 5pm.

The final group stages will kick off at 10 am when Labasa will face Nasinu, Rewa will battle Navua at 12pm followed by Ba vs Suva match at 2pm and Lautoka and Nadi will round off the final match at 4pm.

The semi-finals and finals will be played a week later at the same venue.

So, the stage is now set for the football action between the country’s eight top teams. The pool draws have been widely seen as even. Who will emerge victorious? Will it be Labasa, cheered on by superstar player Roy Krishna in the stands? Will it be the traditional giants Ba? Will this tournament finally be ‘sweet’ for the Sugar City boys? Will one of the Southern teams snatch the title away from the Burning West? Who are the players who will stamp their mark on the tournament?

Tickets are on sale at Lautoka City Council with very limited tickets available.

The ticket price for pavilion will be $15 for adults and child under 12 will be $7. Pavilion B will $12 for adult and child under 12 will be $5 while on the embankment side for adults is $6 and child under 12 is $2.
