The newly appointed Vodafone National Football Head Coach, Flemming Mark Serritslev, has signed a 3-year contract with Fiji Football Association (Fiji FA).
Fiji FA president Rajesh Patel announced this during the press conference held at the Tanoa Waterfront Hotel in Lautoka last Friday.
Patel said they also consulted the Oceania Football Confederation (OFC) technical director Patrick Jacquemet and Fiji FA technical director Ravinesh Kumar before coming to a conclusion.
“Thanks to our technical director (Ravinesh Kumar) for getting the homework and ground work done, and from there on wards we finally came to an understanding with Flemming Mark Serritslev to be our new national team coach,” Patel said.
“We reached out to him (Flemming) after shortlisting with the OFC technical director Patrick Jacquemet and our technical director.
“There were so many others that had applied for it but we had to get somebody that we wanted consistency to be here, we want the same coching style to be all over Fiji so when the players come to the national team, they are all well versed with what our national head coach wants.”
He said Flemming would be coming with vast experiences to lead the national teams.
“Flemming has got a vast experience even in the Oceania region too and so we will not have any problems as far as player discipline and everything is concerned as he knows it well too.
“He will look after all the teams that is boys, girls, and the national teams, and there will be coaches underneath him where he will delegate directions to the coaches who takes charge of any age group national teams.”
Newly appointed head coach Serritslev thanked Fiji FA.
“First of all, I would like to thank the Fiji Football Association for giving me the opportunity to coach the Fiji national team.
“I am looking forward to cooperation from everyone here in Fiji involved in football because, in my opinion, we are part of the world’s best game.”
Serritslev’s first national duty is the Tri-Nations FIFA International friendlies in March.
