Rodu wants same playing philosophy

The Fiji Football Association national women’s head coach Marika Rodu wants the six teams participating in the new Fiji FA Women’s Super-Six League to adopt the same playing philosophy.

After successfully taking the drill with Labasa before the Cyclone Ana, Rodu conducted the training camp for the three south teams which included Rewa, Suva and Tailevu Naitasiri that will take part in the Super Six League last weekend.

Rodu said the camp was prepare the teams for the Super Six League so we could see the success of the Women’s Super-Six League.

“The objective is to see all the teams adopt the same playing philosophy so the fans can enjoy watching them, “said Rodu

“I have done this with Labasa and today (Saturday) with the southern teams and will be heading to west to see Nadroga and Ba,”

“This give us opportunities to see the weakness in the teams and players which we will give feedback to the coaches and that is how we going to see the best in the competition,”

He says the pressure is now on the teams to need to prove themselves to maintain their spot.

“The new concept will bring more responsibility in terms of the teams and officials. They will feel more included in terms of the competition. And it is a step forward to the national league.”

Rodu said it was not only about the Super League but also for the national teams.

“At the end the players will be developed and exposed playing in the competition which will boost the performance of the national team as well,” said Rodu.

The former Rewa defender was impressed with the interest if the girls in the two days camp last weekend at Fiji FA Academy in Vatuwaqa.

“It’s good the see the large number of players eager to learn and feature in the top level of competition,”

“This is something the fans will enjoy when the competition starts at the end of this month, “said Rodu
