Rewa wins southern zone youth title

The Rewa U19 youth team ended the season on a high note beating Navua 2-0 in the final round of the 2020 Vodafone U19 Youth League southern zone at Fiji Football Academy Ground in Vatuwaqa last Saturday.

The Baby Tigers were unbeaten in the competition with eight wins and two draws.

Coach Rodrick Singh thanked Almighty God for the strength and blessing for the team.

“Firstly I thank the man above for his guidance and blessings for a wonderful season,” said Singh

The former Rewa rep said it was the enthusiasm from the players that paid off.

“It is all the hard work, commitment and dedication from the players that made the season a successful one.”

After the departure of former coach Nigel Khan, Singh was given the opportunity to guide the Baby Tigers this year.

“This is my first year to coach a team and I am happy that I have achieved my goal by finishing on top of the Vodafone Youth League points table and undefeated, “said Singh

“I heartily thank Rewa Football Association president Nazeel Buksh and others officials for having faith in me and giving the opportunity to coach the youth team,” said Singh

Singh said he took the challenge despite critics from many outsiders.

“There is always some people who were against my caliber but I must thank Head Coach Marika Rodu for always guiding and believing in me,”

“My players adopted my system of coaching and I also thank all the players for giving their 100 percent on the field and following the game plan in every match,”

Singh said he had faith and trusted his players.

“I always had faith in my players and they did what they were told in the game which was our strength.

“I would like to acknowledge the support of our team manager Rajneeta Kumar for all her hard work and sacrifices for the team, “added Singh

Meanwhile Tailevu Naitasiri and Nasinu played to 2-all draw and Suva came out 2-1 winners against Northland Tailevu in the final round of matches last weekend.
