Rewa wins DPL title, Labasa finishes second

Extra Rewa FC has officially clinched the 2024 Digicel Fiji Premier League title, securing their place at the top with a commanding 40 points. Their 12 victories, 1 loss, and 4 draws in 17 matches were capped off with a dominant 4-1 win over Nadi FC on Sunday, further solidifying their dominance. Meanwhile, Extra Supermarket Labasa FC finished in second place with 32 points despite suffering a 1-2 defeat to Rooster Chicken Ba FC.

As teams prepare for the final round of matches this weekend, Rewa will face Rooster Chicken Ba FC. While Rewa has already secured the title, Ba has a crucial opportunity to claim third place. If they win against Rewa and Lautoka FC, who currently hold third place due to a superior goal difference, lose to Tailevu Naitasiri, Ba could overtake Lautoka. Both Ba and Lautoka are tied with 28 points, making this weekend pivotal.

Flowserve Engineering Navua FC, sitting in fifth with 25 points, will face Labasa on Saturday. A win could push Navua to 28 points and potentially into fourth place, provided both Ba and Lautoka lose. The same scenario also increases the excitement for Navua fans, who hope for a higher finish based on goal differences.

Nadi FC and Flick Hygiene Suva FC, both on 22 points, will face off for sixth position. With Nadi having a better goal difference, both teams are aiming for a win and a significant goal margin to secure their final positions.

Nadroga Auto Marine Upholstery/Sugar Taxis Nadroga FC’s 4-1 win over Tailevu Naitasiri has secured them eighth place with 17 points, ensuring they are safe from relegation.

The relegation battle now comes down to Nasinu and Tailevu Naitasiri, both on 12 points. Tailevu Naitasiri, with a better goal difference, sits in ninth place, while Nasinu is in tenth. It’s a do-or-die weekend for both teams. Nasinu will face Nadroga FC, while Tailevu Naitasiri will play against Lautoka FC in a must-win situation to survive in the top division.
