After winning the Digicel Premier League for the first time this year, the Rewa FC will be out to end its 12-year drought at the 2022 Courts Inter District Championship in Suva which kicks off tomorrow at HFC Bank Stadium in Suva.
The Delta Tigers last won the title in 2012 when they defeated Lautoka 3-1 at the same venue and have engraved their name on the silverware nine times since its inception in 1938,
Head Marika Rodu says they have prepared well for the tournament.
“The DPL title win is a boost to the players and they are motivated to carry forward to the tournament,”
Rodu said they would take each game as it comes in the tournament.
“After the league, we prioritised our recovery so we will need to adapt to each game as it comes.”
“It’s been some time since we haven’t won the Courts IDC and that’s our aim this year. The players are well aware of their roles and position in the team,” Rodu said
The former national rep said they were drawn in a healthy pool.
“Pool is tough and every game is going to be a difficult one.”
“IDC can be anyone’s tournament because it will be played in one week and any team can come out strong.”
“Our Pool looks tough and what we prepare now will matter in the tournament,” he explained.
Rewa starts their IDC campaign against Labasa at 7.30 pm tomorrow. They play Ba on Thursday at 5pm and their final group b match is against Lautoka on Friday at 2pm.
The 2022 Courts IDC semi-finals will be played on Sunday and the finals on Monday.
