Referees Undergo FIFA Course Ahead of FMF IDC

More than thirty elite referees and six instructors are currently participating in a week-long FIFA Member Association Referees Course at the Fiji FA Headquarters in Vatuwaqa.

Fiji FA Referees Director Avinesh Narayan emphasized that this course is a significant boost for referees, especially with the FMF Inter-District Championship (IDC) just a few weeks away.

“This course is timely, as some participants will be part of the IDC panel, providing a great opportunity to refresh their knowledge,” Narayan stated.

He highlighted the course’s objective to enhance the knowledge, fitness, and technical skills of referees across both genders.

“Referees’ decision on the field is important. It has a profound impact that shapes how the world sees the game – and the challenges and opportunities that are essential to the development of referees to make good decisions and be ready and fit technically.

“And we’re happy to see new aspiring referees in this country getting involved and gaining the knowledge of the Laws of the Game.

Narayan expressed confidence that participants would gain valuable insights from this training, underscoring Fiji FA’s commitment to supporting the vital role referees play in maintaining the integrity of modern football.

“These represent the significant steps forward in the continuous development of football in the country – and an opportunity for referees to learn from FIFA’s best to enhance their skills and share their knowledge.

“On behalf of Fiji FA president Rajesh Patel and its Board, I extend words of appreciation and acknowledge the support of Oceania Football Confederation’s (OFC) FIFA Referee Instructor Tevita Vea and FIFA fitness Instructor Alejo Perez Leguizamon.

The course will continue until Friday, October 4.
