It is going to be football for everyone during the 2020 Vodafone Fiji FACT at Subrail Park in Labasa next weekend.
With the eight premier districts and six senior teams, there will be a program for children as well.
Fiji FA president Rajesh Patel says the children in Labasa are not going to be left out during the tournament.
“There will be a football festival for kids from the age of 5-12years on Saturday November 28 from 9am at Subrail Park,” said Patel
“We are targeting 100 kids to be part of the program and for sure there will be some hidden talents that will be scouted by our coaches,”
Patel says transportation will be provided for the children.
“Fiji FA will provide transportation for kids so it easy for them to come to the ground. Children from the surrounding areas, the Fiji FA bus will pick them, bring them to the ground, they will have their one and half hour session with all the top coaches.”
Patel said this was part of Fiji FA’s commitment in the development of football in the country.
“This is not the first time we are doing this, we have done this before in our tournaments and we want to continue doing this for the children of Labasa,”
“Sport and football open hearts and motivate young people to take part in activities relevant for personal and social development and this festival will no doubt bring joy to the kids in Labasa,” said Patel
Patel said the festival would give opportunities to children to showcase their talents.
“The goal of the event is to revitalize and showcase football, identify and recruit talented players for the development program, and boost excitement for the upcoming players,” Patel stated.
Fiji FA is inviting players of all skill levels to attend the festival and participate.
“I urge parents to bring in their kids to the ground on Saturday November 28 and showcase their talents. It is not only for Labasa but kids from all around the northern division can join the festival.”
