Prize-money increase

The winner of this year’s INKK Mobile Battle of the Giants (BOG) will walk away with $17000 in prize-money while the runner-up gets $5000.

This was confirmed by Fiji FA president Rajesh Patel during the pool draws last Thursday at in Nausori.

Patel said this was possible through their sponsors INKK Mobile.

“The INKK Mobile has increased its sponsorship from $60,000 to $80,000 which makes us increase the prize money as well, “said Patel

“It’s not that only receiving money from the sponsors and not giving back to the districts for their hard efforts they put in come and play and win the tournament,”

Patel said this year was 41st year for BOG and tenth year of sponsorship for INKK.

‘’As they have increased the amount and we are pleased to announce that the winner will get $17000 while the runner up gets $5000. The third place winner will get $2500 and the fourth receives $1000,”

“It is eight team that battle and four teams will at least receive something, “said Patel

“We also cover for their transport and every expenses and this is something the teams do come prepared for,”

Patel said that was something for the districts to challenge for this year.

“As we do it this will be something we look forward as we go over the years where the tournament gets bigger and the prize money gets bigger and the districts should be rewarded accordingly, “said Patel

Patel thanked INKK Mobile for their support in the development of football in the country.

“The sponsors play vital role in any tournament and I thank INKK Mobile for their continuous support for past ten years,”

The INKK Mobile BOG will be staged at Ratu Cakobau Park in Nausori where the pool plays will be held from July 26-28 while the semi-finals and final a week later.
