“Preparations will continue”

The Digicel National Football team head coach Flemming Serritslev would not be leaving any stones unturned for the FIFA World Cup Qatar Qualifiers early next year.

Serritslev was pleased with the week-long training camp held at the Fiji FA Academy in Ba last week.

“We had a very good camp last week as the players responded well in all our training sessions,” he said.

“It was after a long break since we last met, but it was a very constructive camp and it was good to see the players maintaining their fitness level.

“There were just a few new faces in the camp last week and we will continue to invite maybe two to three new young players to test them among the experienced players in the squad.”

He said the Bula Boys will continue to have training camps every month.

“We will continue to have weekly camps every month as we are preparing for the World Cup Qatar Qualifiers.

“As we go along and come closer to the qualifiers, our camping period will increase.

“Unfortunately, we are not able have any international friendlies because of the Covid restrictions, but this does not stop us from continuing with our preparations as it is very important for us to be prepared should the borders suddenly open and if there happens to be any change in the schedule of the qualifiers.”

The next training camp is scheduled from 19-23 April.
