The Digicel Lami Regional Beach Soccer Championship was a major success says Fiji FA Competition Manager Amitesh Pal.
“I would say it was a great success despite coming back after six months of haul,” said Pal
Pal says they were trying to revive and grow beach soccer in the country.
“Our aim is to revive and grow beach soccer in the country as we have done for futsal.
“We have received lots of support from districts in the growth of futsal and we are optimistic that same we will be done for beach soccer,” said Pal
Pal said the tournament was to give opportunities to our district players to get interest in Beach Soccer.
“We had an open tournament in January this year but the second wave of the pandemic stopped us from hosting more competitions for last six months so we have re-started with LFA.”
“We are proud that Digicel has come on board to sponsor the event and we are very thankful to them for supporting us in this hard times,” said Pal
Pal said they would be introducing Beach Soccer tournament around the country.
“Like other games we also want to see Beach Soccer League to develop our players for national team,” said Pal
Eight teams from Lami Futsal Association took part in the two-day event at FSC Beach Soccer pitch in Laucala last weekend.
