The stage is all set for the kick-off of the OFC Futsal Cup 2022 at the Vodafone Arena in Suva today.
Eight teams are taking part from Fiji, New Caledonia, New Zealand, Samoa, Solomon Islands, Tonga, and Vanuatu, while OFC invited the Fiji Football Association (FFA) to enter a second team to participate.
Digicel national futsal side has been drawn in Group B with champions Solomon Islands, New Caledonia and Samoa while Fiji FA President’s Five is drawn with New Zealand, Tonga and Vanuatu.
Fiji FA Presidents Fives futsal side will open the tournament at 3.30pm today against New Zealand.
At 6pm Vanuatu will take on Tonga while New Caledonia and Fiji will wrap up day one at 8.30pm.
On the second day on September 14(Wednesday) at 1pm Fiji FA President’s Five will take on Tonga while at 3.30pm Solomon Islands will face New Caledonia. At 6pm New Zealand and Vanuatu will battle followed by Fiji vs Samoa match at 8.30pm.
The teams will go on rest on Thursday.
The final group stages will see on Friday at 10.30am, Samoa plays New Caledonia and Vanuatu takes on Fiji FA President’s Five at 1pm. New Zealand will take on Tonga at 3.30pm while Fiji will face the Solomon Islands at 6pm.
The championship will be played September 13-18 at Vodafone Arena in Suva.
The group stages will be played in a single round-robin where each team plays one match against the other teams in the same group, with three points for a win, one point for a draw, and none for a defeat.
The group winners and runners-up will contest a semi-final each on Saturday, September 17, with the winners advancing to the Futsal Cup final on Sunday.
The entry fee to the tournament is $5 flat.
