Navua U16 girls’ team started its campaign in the Digicel U16 Girls Youth League on a high note beating Lami 3-1 at Nakaikogo Primary School Ground in Nausori last Saturday.
Seini Luisa scored double while Shaksi Prasad netted the final goal and Beta scored Lami’s lone goal.
Rewa after going down 1-2 against Tailevu Naitasiri in the opening round regrouped and thrashed Northland Tailevu 3-0 with goals from Hanna Vula, Christine Seru and an own goal by Northland Tailevu’s Paulini Loilagi.
Nasinu came from behind to beat Suva 2-1 and leads the points table standings with six points after beating Lami with the same margin in round one.
Tailevu Naitasiri was on bye last weekend.
Rewa sits on second place with three points while Tailevu Naitasiri is on third place with three points as well but Rewa has the better goal difference.
Suva, Lami and Northland Tailevu are yet to register wins.
Fiji FA development officer Waifune Tupua said all the teams came well prepared last weekend.
“It was good to see the level of competition getting tough with teams coming more prepared compared to round one,”
“It’s also good to see the interest growing in the young girls and support from parents is very much appreciated,’ said Tupua
She said the u16 girl’s league was a pathway for the players.
“This is our development program and these players will be our future stars,” added Tupua
