Navua still unbeaten

The Navua football side continued it’s their unbeaten run in the Vodafone Senior League during the final play-offs at Uprising Sports Complex in Navua.

The southern champions now lead the points table after the first round of matches with nine points.

The Anaconda Town boys defeated Lami 1-0 in their opening match a fortnight ago and won 2-0 against Savusavu on Saturday while their match against Dreketi ended in 3-0 win.

Navua coach Mohammed Shafil was a happy man after the wins.

“I am really happy with three wins and most importantly we kept our unbeaten record this year in the competition,” said Shafil

“We are going in for wins and as I said before we are taking each game at a time and we are happy to get six points this weekend,”

Shafil said the second round matches would be tough.

“I know the second round matches will not an easy as all the teams after playing each other have known the strength and weakness but we will work on our mistakes and will do our best to keep our unbeaten record this year.

He believes their biggest threat in the competition was Lami

“Lami is a big threat to us in the competition as we are going neck to neck at the moment yes we will have a very tough against them but it all depends how we prepare and how focus the players are and looking at my team I am sure we will overcome every team in the second round.”

He urged Navua fans to keep supporting the team.

“I thank the fans for their support and I urge them keep supporting us as we are on a step to take Navua back to the top level of football, “said Shafil.

Navua will travel to North this weekend where they will again face Savusavu on Saturday at Muanidevu Ground in Dreketi at 1pm and will play Dreketi on Sunday at 1pm at the same venue.
