Navua reaps reward

Hard work has paid off, was the words from Navua football coach Amit Prakash after their 1-0 win against Ba in the Digicel Premier League fixture last Sunday at Uprising Sports Center in Pacific Harbour.

“We really needed this win as we were sitting on the bottom of the table, “said Prakash

“We did a lot of hard work over the week especially in our attack and finishing which we were lacking and it paid off,”

Prakash said the win was a special one for him and as well for Navua FA.

“This is my first win with Navua and also we have beaten Ba after 11 years in the national league which makes the win more special,” said Navua school teacher

Prakash said he was relieved after the win.

“There were lots of pressure on us after losing some matches but I am proud today (Sunday) that we have beaten a champion side,”

“On the same note I would like to thank Navua FA president Rajeev Prasad, his executive members and the players for having faith in me,” said Prakash

Prakash praised veteran striker Apisai Smith for netting the winning goal in the last minute of the match.

“We knew the experience of Apisai will do the difference in the team and that’s why we send him as replacement to make impact and he proved it,”

Smith was replaced in the 75th minute with midfielder Jashnit Vikash and became threat to the Ba defense which saw him neatly finishing a Netani Doli cross just before the full time to give the Anaconda Town boys its first and memorable win.

Navua will host Nadi this Sunday at Uprising Sports Center at 3pm in round six of the Digicel Premier League.
