A 29-member extended Digicel National Women’s team marches into camp this weekend at Fiji FA Academy in Vatuwaqa.
Head coach Marika Rodu says the main objective for camp is to start early preparation for the 2022 FIFA World Cup play-offs.
“The camp will give us opportunities to check on the status of the girls, injuries, fitness and also start to start an early preparation for the July play-offs,” said Rodu
Rodu says they will conduct monthly camps in between the Digicel Women’s Super League to see how they progress.
“The numbers are more but I am getting 29 players at the moment. Some players also in the national team that are under 19 and will come into camp in the second week during the school holidays, “said Rodu
Rodu said the base for women national team was high.
“First camp is mainly focused on the senior team players and check on their status and we will streamline the numbers down as we get closer to the competition and final camp.
