The Nasinu football side started its campaign in the Digicel Senior League beating Lami 3-0 at Fiji FA Academy Ground in Vatuwaqa last Sunday.
An own goal by Lami defender Lemeki Rasaloto in the 35th minute gave Nasinu lead in the first half.
A new look Nasinu side under coach Mira Sahib looked strong in the second half with Solomon Island imports Nasville, Jeremiah Manenta and Harry Dawson playing up front making threat in the Lami defence which was well guarded by the former Navua and national defender Simione Maikali.
In the 75th minute Manenta doubled Nasinu’s advantage as they broke the Lami defense while former Rewa, Suva midfielder Jonetani Buksh who came as substitute scored the final goal in the dying stage of the match.
Lami coach Ramesh Chandra was happy with the performance of his players despite the loss.
“I think the boys played really well, we played good football but we were unlucky with an own goal scored in the first half.
“ We lost concentration in the second half and Nasinu captilised in the final quarter of the match as some of our players sustained hard injuries but we are putting out loss behind and will go back on the drawing board and come out more prepared in our next match, “said Chandra
Chandra said they were happy to be associated with Fiji FA after been out of competition for a year.
“We are not aiming for a spot in the premier division yet after coming back into the after a year and our aim is to build the team for future and be competitive,” said Chandra
“We are totally a new team but we are happy to have former Navua rep Simione Maikali who has lots of experience and guiding the new players,”
Chandra said they needed to work out on fitness before their match against Northland Tailevu this week.
Nasinu coach Mira Sahib was happy with the result as a debutant.
“Well every coach wants the best result in the start and Iam happy we managed to start with a win,”
“We will take each game as it comes and treat every match as final match,” said Sahib
Sahib who lost his mum last week said the credit goes to the boys.
“The first match is always tough but the boys managed the game plan and did the job,”
