Nadroga FC enters the 2025 Extra Supermarket Battle of the Giants (BOG) tournament with the intention of unsettling the traditional powerhouses of Fijian football. The tournament, to be held at Subrail Park in Labasa, sees the Stallions placed in a competitive group alongside hosts Labasa, Lautoka, and Ba.
Far from being strangers to high-pressure situations, Nadroga boasts a history of rising to challenges. The club last won the BOG title at Subrail Park in 2002, and before that, in 1989 and 1991. Since their 2002 triumph, however, the Stallions have yet to reclaim the silverware.
Under the guidance of head coach Varoon Karan, Nadroga aims to prove that it is not to be underestimated. A series of courageous performances in recent Extra Premier League matches has reinforced the team’s identity as resilient and determined competitors. Their well-earned reputation for “guts and determination” makes them a team to watch—especially within a group stacked with historically dominant sides.
Nadroga’s resilience and ability to surprise stronger opponents could play a decisive role in shaping the outcomes of Group A. If the team continues its trend of bold, disciplined performances, it may well emerge as the dark horse of the tournament.
The squad includes a blend of experience and youthful promise. Veteran players such as goalkeeper Sakeo Tageneca, Siotama Kubu, Ravinesh Reddy, and Sakuisa Saqiri bring leadership and composure to the field. They are complemented by promising young talents including Asivini Takina, Malakai Lavacake, and Solomon Islands imports such as Jack Tokaki.
Nadroga’s opening match against Lautoka on Friday, August 1, at 2:00 p.m. will serve as an important litmus test. The Stallions will then face Labasa on Saturday at 5:00 p.m., followed by their final Group A fixture against Lautoka FC on Sunday at 4:00 p.m.
With a reputation for resilience and the strategic leadership of Coach Varoon Karan, Nadroga FC enters BOG 2025 with the potential to be a true disruptor in the tournament.
