A determined Nadroga football side defeated Nasinu 2-0 in round 16 of the Digicel Premier League at the HFC Bank Stadium in Suva on Sunday.
Paula Buke and Digicel national under 19 rep Zoheb Rahim scored the goals in both halves to move the stallions to the sixth position on the DPL point’s table ladder while Nasinu remains on the bottom.
Nadroga coach Joseph Nitya Nand praised his players for the gallant performance.
“I think the boys really played their heart out and I am very happy they executed the game plan well,” said Nand
“After our win against Tailevu Naitasiri a week ago we wanted to continue with winning and I am happy that we are out of the danger zone. It is only possible through the hard work of the players.”
“They knew what was expected from the match,” said Nand
“We knew Nasinu will come out hard on us but we had our plan and the boys stuck to it so the result is there,”
With two more games remaining, Nand said they would now focus on the Punjas Battle of the Giants Tournament.
“We are relieved now after coming out of the red zone to book a spot in the Punjas BOG so we will shift our focus on the tournament,”
“There are some areas we really need to work hard on and I am sure we will iron out mistakes and come out more prepared for the BOG and remaining matches,” said Nand
Nadroga will be on bye this weekend as they are scheduled to play Rewa who is away in New Zealand for the OFC Champions League.
