Lautoka coach Anginesh Prasad was not disappointed man after finishing second in the 2019 INKK Mobile Battle of the Giants tournament on Sunday.
“I am not disappointed but very proud of my team as we have come a long way in this tournament,” said Prasad
“Nobody gave us a chance before the tournament but we defied all odds and reached the final. This in itself is an achievement for me and the boys. Knowing too well what all transpired recently, we stayed strong, trained hard and gave our best.”
“I want to apologize to our fans for not winning but surely we have learned more and will come out stronger in future games and tournaments,” said Prasad.
Lautoka came into the final undefeated after they thrashed Nasinu 4-0, won 2-0 against Nadi and 1-1 draw against Rewa.
The Blues came out strong in the semi-final against a star studded Suva side and won 4-1 to qualify for the final.
Former Lautoka striker Siotama Kubu scored the winning goal in the 79th minute of play to give Labasa the much needed BOG title.
Lautoka received the $5000 prize-money for been the runner-up.
