Victorious Labasa coach Ronil Lal has dedicated their 2020 Courts Inter District Championship title to veteran midfielder Taniela Waqa.
Lal said he would like to dedicate this win to him.
“I dedicate this win to Taniela because he is the most committed and disciplined player I have ever coached,”
“This is probably his last IDC with Labasa. He has been a loyal servant for Labasa and over the years, he has featured very strongly in our tournament wins,”said Lal
Lal also thanked his players for playing their heart out.
“ I am really happy for the win today ( Sunday) and thank almighty God for guiding us to our first back-to back title win and I thank my players for proving all the critics wrong,”
“Our fans had lost hope in us and I think the boys came out very strong our regrouping was very good, the bonding was still there from last year when I joined the team and that what carried us into this tournament,” said Lal
Lal said he was criticised a lot after their first loss but he had faith in his team.
“After our first match people lost hope in us and started calling me and criticising for my comments but it was true we were just lazy.
“I told the boys they can do better than this and they prove it,” said Lal
The Labasa school teacher thanked his family for their support in the coaching career.
“I would like to thank my wife Reshmi, my son Aayan, my mother and my brother Rohit in Auckland for always supporting me, “said Lal
Under Lal’s guidance Labasa managed to win its first ever back to back title win.
