Lal a happy man

Labasa coach Roneel Lal was the happiest man after the final of the 2019 INKK Mobile Battle of the Giants Tournament at Churchill Park in Lautoka.

The Babasiqa Lions broke their 22-year jinx of winning BOG beating Lautoka 1-0n in the final on Sunday.

Lal said he was lost for words but he was proud to be the winning coach.

“It feels so great and I am totally on top of the world right now.  It is an amazing feeling to win the BOG title after 22 years and all the credit goes to the players as they made a lot of sacrifices.”

“The last three weeks were tough for us as we had to travel to and fro from Labasa for our games. We stayed composed, strong and supported each other.”

“It was a very tough final and I thank Lautoka for giving us a good game. We were determined to win and my players worked very hard for the win.”

“I am sure the officials will reward the team in a big way for this wonderful achievement and I am also calling on all the fans to come forward and honor the team as this win is surely for them and all football lovers around the country,” said Lal

Labasa walked away with $17000 prize money which the players are expected to share after the meeting of Labasa FA executive this week on how they will honour their heroes.
