Labasa women’s football side defeated Ba women 4-3 to win the inaugural Pillay Garment Champion vs Champion match at the HFC Bank Stadium in Suva on Sunday.
Sofi Diyolowai scored the opener in the 34-minute while striker Anasimeci Volitikoro scored a double in the 43rd and 45th minutes.
Narieta Leba brought hope to the Ba camp scoring a goal in the 7th minute of the start of the second half but it was cut short two minutes later when midfielder Shayal Sindhika further extended Labasa’s lead.
Ba kept the fighting spirit and striker Cema Nasau scored a brace of goals in the 62nd and 88th minutes to narrow the margin to 4-3.
Labasa walked away with $2500 in prizemoney.
