As the 2025 Extra Battle of the Giants kicks off at Subrail Park, Extra Supermarket Labasa FC stands on the brink of history. With home advantage, a decorated squad, and roaring fan support, the Babasiga Lions are aiming for a record-making campaign in front of their own.
Labasa’s legacy in the tournament is deep-rooted, with four BOG titles and seven runner-up finishes. Most memorably, they lifted the trophy at home in 1997, a win still celebrated in the North. Now, nearly 30 years later, the team is hungry to repeat that triumph.
Following back-to-back BOG victories in 2022 and 2023, and a strong 2025 season that includes the Fiji FACT title and a second-place league standing, Labasa enters the tournament as clear contenders.
The team, led by head coach Alvin Chand, features a potent mix of veterans and rising stars. Goalkeeper Simione Tamanisau anchors a reliable backline, while the midfield trio of Akeimi Ralulu, Ilisoni Logaivou, and Melvin Mani provides control and creativity. Up front, Christopher Wasasala and Eparama Moraica offer firepower, supported by dynamic foreign recruits from the Solomon Islands—Tigi Molea, Jibson Abana, and Junior Jack.
Drawn into a challenging Group A with Lautoka, Ba, and Nadroga, Labasa faces stiff competition. But with Subrail Park behind them, the Lions are determined to make the most of their home soil advantage.
For Labasa FC, this tournament is about more than trophies—it’s about pride, community, and continuing a legacy of passion and performance in Fijian football.
