Labasa continues losing streak

The NZ Fan Club Labasa FC remains the only winless team in the Digicel Premier League after going down 0-1 to Nadroga in round five last Sunday.

Nadroga registered its first win after hosting its first match Lawaqa Park on Sunday.

The stallions now have three points while Labasa drops to the bottom of the standings with two points.

Labasa started the match showing some urgency in the match but failed to utilise with Nadroga goalkeeper Sakeo Taganeca making some superb saves.

Nadroga also had some opportunities in the first half but failed to go through the solid Labasa defense.

Both teams went breather locked 0-0.

Nadroga came out firing in the second half and kept the pressure on the Labasa defense which saw referee Nishil Varman awarding a penalty to the Stallions after Iliasa Lino was penalized for handball in the box.

Amani Makoe stood to take the spot-kick and without any mistake put it back of the net past diving Labasa goalkeeper Misiwane Nairube.

Labasa was down to ten men after Varam showed Akemi Ralulu a direct red card in the 77th minute.

Nadroga was assisted by former reps Archie Watkins and Kamenieli Tuilawaki from the sidelines with Nadeem Mohammed manning the bench.
