Labasa bowed out undefeated

The Sharma’s Investment (USA) sponsored Labasa side bowed out of the 2020 Punjas Battle of the Giants tournament undefeated with three points.

The Babasiqa Lions drew 1-1 against Suva, Ba and Nasinu in their Group A fixtures.

Coach Ronil Lal says they only have themselves to blame for not defending the title.

Speaking after their 1-1 draw against Nasinu which officially bundled them out of the tournament, Lal said the players could not capitalise on their chances and just did not click at all.

He said despite dominating the match in both halves, the players could not organise themselves in midfield and attack.

“Our midfield was not at all settled as we were giving away possession easily and finishing again was a let down.”

“We expected Nasinu to come out strongly. We were up by a goal and should have scored the penalty to put more pressure on them but unfortunately we could not get that done on the field and allowed Nasinu to hit back and score.”

Going forward, Lal said he will look to add some youngsters to his team to bring more freshness and flair.

“This is not the end of the world for us. We will take away the positive from this tournament and work on our mistakes for future games. We still have IDC and Fiji FACT to play and will look to make amends and come out stronger and better,” he added.

The Sharma’s Investment USA sponsored- Labasa ended its campaign with three draws.
