The victorious Kasavu FC players will be rewarded for giving the club its first Vodafone National Regional Club Championship title last weekend.
The Sharam Hangers- sponsored club of Rewa defeated Greenstar FC of Nadroga 3-0 in the final at Lawaqa Park in Sigatoka last Sunday.
Coach Mohammed Nizam said the prize-money of $5000 plus $15000 from our sponsors would be shared to the 14 players.
“Our sponsor has topped up $15000 in addition to the prizemoney that we won which will be shared by the players,” said Nizam
The former Kasavu rep thanked Sharam Hangers for sponsoring the team this year.
He said his players deserved the victory.
“First of all I would like to thank almighty God for giving us strength and blessings to win the tournament for the first time,” said Nazim
“The players have created history by winning the first NCC title after 76 years,”
Nazim said this was possible through the support of club president Sharif Khan.
“Our club president is in Sydney and has been supporting the club and players. He took over the club four years ago and we qualified for the championship two times but failed to win the title,”
“We thank him for his support and we are so happy that hard work paid off,” said Nazim.
The Kasavu lad said it was a tough final.
“I must thank Greenstar FC for giving us a tough game and I congratulate them,” said Nazim.
