The Digicel Fiji Junior Kulas are set for the OFC U-16 Women’s Championship, which kicks off this Sunday at the HFC Bank Stadium in Suva.
Head coach Marika Rodu has expressed confidence in the team’s preparation as they enter the final stages of readiness.
“The preparation is well underway, and we are coming to our last week of preparation and trying to keep things down. The girls are in good condition and getting ready for the first match against Tonga,” Rodu stated.
Rodu anticipates a challenging opening match against Tonga, acknowledging that the first game is often the toughest.
“We don’t expect the match against Tonga to be an easy one because the first match is always difficult, but the whole idea is to settle down and get straight into the game,” he said.
He highlighted Tonga’s defensive approach, noting their tendency to set up a low block, which could make it difficult for Fiji to break through.
However, Rodu is optimistic about Junior Kulas’ chances, saying, “We will look into that and secure the three points on Sunday.”
The Fiji vs Tonga match kicks off at 3 pm this Sunday.
