IDC semi-finalists confirmed

The Suntek Supermarket sponsored Labasa football side defeated Ba 1-0 to top Group A and qualify for the semifinals as the Group winners in the 2019 Courts IDC at Prince Charles Park.

The Roneel Lal coach side is the only undefeated team in the tournament after a 1-1 draw against Lautoka on the opening day and their second match against Tavua ended in a 2-1 win.

Labasa just needed a draw to qualify for the semifinals but the win forced them to the top of their Group and pushed Ba to the runners-up spot.

Ba was the first team to qualify after two wins.

The Babasiga Lions earned maximum points from this match and will now play Nadi in the first semifinal on Saturday at 4pm while Ba, qualifying as runners-up from Group A will face Suva in the second semifinal at 6pm.

Lautoka managed to build good goal average against Tavua thrashing them 7-3 but this was not enough to earn a semifinal spot.

The northerners showed teamwork and determination as Antonio Tuivuna scored a classic goal in the 55th minute to give Labasa the win.

Lincoln Refrigeration sponsored Suva football team topped Group B after beating Rewa 2-1 to qualify for the Courts IDC semifinals in its last group match.

Rewa needed a win while Suva just needed a draw to qualify but the Capital City side managed a win to qualify as Group winners.

Sairusi Nalaubu opened the account in the 66th minute to take a 1-0 lead.

The Delta Tigers came back into the game and equalised through Gabiriele Matanasiga.

Suva replied three minutes later through Gagame Feni to make sure the Whites take maximum points from their final pool match.

Nadi has qualified from that pool as runners-up after they defeated Nasinu 1-0.

The goal came from their captain Rusiate Matarerega from the penalty spot.

Looking at the Senior division, the Nadroga football team has topped its pool after holding Navua to a one-all draw.

Moshin’s Insulation sponsored Nadroga has advanced into the semifinals as pool winners and will face Savusavu in the second semifinal at 1.30pm on Saturday.

Navua has qualified as runners-up from that pool and will face Lami in the first semifinal at 11am on Saturday.
