As the final group fixtures of the OFC Women’s Nations Cup 2025 – Group B approach, the stakes could not be higher. With Fiji, Vanuatu, and Solomon Islands all still in contention, and only two spots available in the semi-finals, tonight’s matches will determine who advances and who goes home.
Despite topping the group with 6 points, Fiji is not yet guaranteed a place in the final four. Back-to-back wins, including a dominant 3-0 victory over Tonga, have put the Fijian Kulas in a commanding position with a +4 goal difference, but the mathematics of group football leave the door open for late drama.
If Fiji loses to Vanuatu, and the Solomon Islands beat Tonga by a large enough margin, all three teams could finish on 6 points, triggering goal difference calculations to decide the top two. While Fiji currently has the edge, the margin is slim enough to spark concern in the Kulas camp.
Vanuatu, second on the table with 3 points and a +1 goal difference, face Fiji in the headline clash tonight. A win would confirm their place in the semi-finals and throw Fiji’s hopes into jeopardy. A draw, however, leaves them vulnerable — and would only suffice if the Solomon Islands fail to beat Tonga.
For the Solomon Islands, also on 3 points but behind on goal difference or goals scored, the equation is straightforward. They must defeat Tonga in the 4 pm kick-off and then hope Fiji beats Vanuatu — or win big enough to overturn any goal difference deficit in the event of a three-way tie.
At the bottom of the table, Tonga has already been eliminated after two straight defeats and a -6 goal difference. Still, they have the chance to play spoiler tonight and influence who joins Fiji or Vanuatu in the semi-finals.
