Golden Boot for Rakula

Ram’s Cleaning Services/ All Freights Logistics Suva midfielder Malakai Rakula was awarded the 2022 Digicel Fiji FACT Golden Boot award for scoring three goals in the tournament.

Ba’s Saula Waqa, Labasa’s Christopher Wasasala and Suva’s Azariah Soromon were locked with three goals but Rakula’s goal in the final gave him the award.

The former Ba, Tavua and Lautoka rep said he was proud to help the Capital City side retain its title.

“I had an aim in my mind in the final to score and I was certain to put the ball behind the net,”

The 30-year-old gave Suva the lead in the first half with a powerful free-kick which went over the Labasa wall and into the top corner.

Rakula said he was confident that he would score.

“I dedicate my goal to my wife and kids and to all the supporters of Suva football.”

Samuela Drudru scored the second goal for Suva in the final to seal the 2-0 win.

Suva has received $17,000 while Labasa has been given $5,000.
