The 2019 Vodafone Futsal Inter District Championship was a major success says Fiji Football Association chief executive officer Mohammed Yusuf.
“It was well organised and all eight teams participated in the tournament came well prepared, “said Yusuf.
Yusuf said they were grateful to Fiji Sports Council for allowing them to host the tournament at the FMF Gymnasium.
“The venue itself gave players to showcase their talents and the fans that came out in numbers really enjoyed the thrills and actions of the game,”
He said the futsal tournament was growing bigger and better every year.
“This year the competition was more competitive compared to last year because the interest in futsal is growing in the district since the Vodafone national futsal league started,”
“It was surprising to see futsal lovers coming out in numbers to cheer and support their teams, “said Yusuf
Yusuf said one thing was proved in the tournament that players who regularly play five-a-side were the best.
“We saw that the players who regularly play futsal were out showing the eleven-a side players.”
Yusuf said both finalists Suva and Lami had some futsal players in the team which proved worth.
“Most of the Suva players don’t play 11-a-side for their districts as well some of the Lami players and they proved to be the better side, “said Yusuf.
“Congratulations to both teams and thank to all the participating team for displaying quality futsal,”
The 2020 Vodafone futsal IDC is expected be more bigger and better in December.
