From Seaqaqa to San Juan: Mohammed Fataul Raheem’s Journey to FIFA U20 World Cup

Mohammed Fataul Raheem, a skilled soccer player hailing from Seaqaqa, Fiji, is a formidable defender. Born on October 8, 2003, Raheem has secured his place as the right full-back in the esteemed Digicel Fiji U20 National team. Currently, he is diligently preparing himself for the upcoming match against Slovakia in the FIFA U20 World Cup in Argentina.

Raheem, standing 178 cm tall and weighing 68.3 kg, is a dedicated athlete who has worked hard to achieve his current level of success. Apart from football, he enjoys playing basketball, watching movies, sightseeing, and spending quality time with his family. These hobbies not only provide relaxation but also contribute to his well-rounded lifestyle.

Raheem’s football journey started eight years ago when he played his first major final for Seaqaqa U12. Although his team lost to Ba U12, led by teammate Samuela Novoce, in the Fiji Primary Football Association School Inter-District Championship cup, it was a significant moment for Raheem’s development.

Currently affiliated with the Ba FC, representing the Ba district, Raheem made his debut with the Seaqaqa FC, marking a significant milestone in his career. Through his undeniable talent and unwavering determination, Raheem has progressed through various national levels, ultimately earning a place in the Digicel Fiji U20 National team.

Raheem’s favorite local player is Antonio Tuivuna, whom he admires for his ability to win the ball and swiftly transition into a counter-attack, benefiting his team. On the international stage, Raheem looks up to Sergio Ramos, appreciating his exceptional 1v1 defending skills and composure on the ball, even under pressure.

Qualifying for the FIFA U20 World Cup is Raheem’s most memorable football moment thus far. However, he also recalls the disappointment of Seaqaqa FC’s loss in the play-off against Tavua as one of his worst moments in the sport. Sailasa Ratu, his teammate, is his toughest opponent, constantly pushing him to elevate his game.

For young footballers aspiring to succeed, Raheem advises them to work hard, be patient, and believe that their time will come. Outside of soccer, Raheem enjoys drinking coconut water, savoring his mom’s food, and listening to R&B and Hindi songs. As for cinema, he jokes that teammate Faazil Ali (Tiger) is his favorite actor, while his preferred actress remains unknown.

Raheem draws inspiration from his parents, who have provided constant support throughout his journey. Ifroz Ali is his best friend, and he considers Nabil Begg, due to his excessive talking, as the most annoying teammate.

Despite his worst habit of sleeping, Raheem compensates for it with his dedication and passion for football. Being selected for the Digicel Fiji U20 National team is his proudest career moment so far, reflecting his talent and hard work.

Regarding his goals for the FIFA U20 World Cup, Raheem expresses his determination to make his nation proud. He aims to play with heart and honor his family name on the international stage. With his skills, dedication, and strong support system, Mohammed Fataul Raheem is poised to leave a lasting impact in the world of soccer.

“I want us to give our all, make our nation proud, and personally raise my family’s name through my performance. I will work extra hard to achieve this.”
