Football has reached Yasawa Islands after the Fiji Football Association launched FIFA Football for Schools Curriculum at the Namara Village School yesterday.
This is a Fiji FA’s first step to take football to the Maritime Islands.
Fiji FA Technical Director Timo Jankowski says bringing football to the Yasawa Islands through the FIFA Football for Schools Curriculum is a great initiative by the Fiji Football Association and FIFA.
“It’s essential to provide opportunities for sports and recreation in all communities, and football is such a globally loved sport that can bring people together and promote physical activity and teamwork.
Jankowski said the enthusiasm and determination shown by the kids in Namara Village School are truly inspiring.
“The kids were super excited as some of them had the opportunity to kick the ball for the first time and play football.
“We could see some great talents with lots of passion in the school,” said Jankowski.
“This is just the beginning of a thriving football culture in the Yasawa Islands and other Maritime Islands in Fiji,” said Jankowski.
